Players Welfare Course

Free Online Player Welfare Course Available

Open to all, England Football Learning’s Player Welfare Course is free and available online.

The England Football Learning Player Welfare Courses is now available free and online.

This course is recommended for all, however there is an emphasis on Open Age clubs, in particular the Club Welfare Officer for adult teams, as this will become a requirement from next season, and for all team officials of open age teams from 2025/26.

The free, online course takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and covers what player welfare is, why it’s important and how to support players.

The course focuses on key issues that can impact player welfare, including:

  • Safeguarding
  • Misconduct
  • Physical and digital environments
  • Medical concerns
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Mental health
  • Domestic abuse
  • Reporting concerns
  • Signposting

Integral to this is the recognition that Open Age football teams may have under-18 players. The course is linked to a new welfare tab on the England Football Learning website, that will carry further support and signposting information.
