Pavers Foundation Supports Grassroots Football Through NRCFA

The Pavers Foundation has recently donated £1,000 to the NRCFA to aid the development of Referees.

We are delighted to announce that The Pavers Foundation, charitable initiative of leading footwear retailer, Pavers, has recently donated £1,000 to the North Riding County Football Association to aid the development of Referees.

The donation will go towards sponsoring our Annual Referees Training Presentation and aid our female referees’ development programme by providing support and guidance to women, who are just starting out in their refereeing career.

Ross Joyce, Referee Development Manager at NRCFA said: “We are delighted that Pavers Foundation has very kindly donated funds that will be critical in the development of Referees within the North Riding County. At the North Riding FA, we are passionate about recruiting, developing, and supporting referees to ensure our workforce is fully representative of our local grassroots community.

"There are over 22,000 participants currently playing football in some capacity within the county. Without the development of new referees, we would not be able to fulfil the demand across female, male and disability pathway to to ensure games are played in a safe and controlled environment. The donation by Pavers Foundation will allow us to continue our training and development of match officials.

Speaking about the partnership Mark Granger, Chairman of the Pavers Foundation, a keen referee himself in his spare time, applied through the Pavers Foundation’s employee-led grant application scheme, which encourages all colleagues of Pavers to apply for grants for local charities and causes close to their hearts which make a difference in areas of health, education, and community.

Having played Football in the leagues for over 20 years and refereed for the same amount of time, I realise the importance of having a fully qualified official appointed to all games. I hope in our small way the Pavers Foundation can help the NRCFA achieve that objective.
