For The Love of the Game is an award scheme that aims to recognise hard-working individuals who go the extra mile to ensure our teams, clubs and leagues are able to operate within our county.
An estimated 6000 people give up their time every week to help ensure that participants have the opportunity for people to play the beautiful game we all love. Without the time, dedication and commitment volunteers demonstrate each and every week across our county, clubs and leagues, they would simply not exist.
Our For the Love of the Game badges will highlight and showcase invaluable contributions people make to their clubs, leagues and community groups.
Donna Crowthers, Football Development Officer said:
"Our volunteers are the ones that matter. They are the ones that make a difference. Their willingness to share both their time and their talent by volunteering within grassroots football says a lot about each of them as human beings. They give selflessly to help others which speaks volumes about their strength and the quality of their character. When people volunteer, they are making a commitment to share that most precious of resources – their time.
"While we know that people choose to volunteer selflessly and without expectation of being recognised or rewarded, we hope that our For the Love of the Game award badges will create 'wow' moments for clubs and their volunteer teams. This may be celebrating an individual or a collective group by paying tribute to our wonderful volunteers across the county that make football happen. And over the course of this season and for many seasons to come we want to recognise and celebrate people’s efforts, to share their values by promoting the great work they do within clubs, leagues and wider football community."
