IMPORTANT Safeguarding Information for Referees

MANDATORY SAFEGUARDING REQUIREMENT FROM THE FA

North Riding Football Association would like to inform all affiliated referees who operate in youth football that they MUST have an in-date Safeguarding Children Qualification in order to register for next season (2020/21).

Anyone involved in youth football (Under-18 and below) in either a refereeing, mentoring or observing capacity must either complete an FA Safeguarding Children Workshop or the Online Safeguarding Re-certification. This online re-certification is completely free but generally only available to those who have previously attended a Safeguarding Children Workshop since 2008.

STEPS FOR REFEREES TO TAKE

If your Safeguarding Children Qualification is currently out of date or due to expire in the near future, please carry out one of the following actions.

1. Book onto a workshop using one of the following links. Please note: this workshop is priced at £30 and lasts three years.

Saturday 28 March 2020: North Riding County FA HQ, Stokesley - 09:30 - 12:30

Thursday 16 April 2020: Scarborough Sports Village, Scarborough - 18:00 - 21:00

Tuesday 21 April 2020: Catterick Garrison, Catterick - 18:00 - 21:00

Wednesday 13 May 2020: York College, York - 18:00 - 21:00

Wednesday 20 May 2020: North Riding County FA, Stokesley – 18:00 – 21:00

2. Complete the online re-certification using the following link

This online module is completely FREE and should only take around 90 minutes to complete. This may provide a more practical option for referees than attending a workshop, so please try using the link above to see if you’re eligible for the module. Referees will need their FAN number in order to access.

Please note this is generally only available to those who have previously attended a Safeguarding Children Workshop since 2008.

Please also note that there may be some issues with accessing it on Internet Explorer and FA Education’s recommendation is Google Chrome. If you have any further issues, please get in touch with FA Education to try and get any issues resolved: Education@thefa.com

3. Email support@northridingfa.com stating that you will not be officiating Under-18 football in order to prevent any re-registration issues.

Remember, if your Safeguarding Children Qualification is out of date or due to expire in the near future, you WILL NOT be able to register for next season (2020/21) unless you take one of the steps listed above.

North Riding FA has contacted referees at an early stage to provide options as soon as possible, as this is a mandatory safeguarding requirement from The FA. It is anticipated that referee registration for 2020/21 will be available from early June.

If you have any questions on any of the above, please email support@northridingfa.com
