Matchday Refereeing Experience with the PGMOL
ACCOMPANY PGMOL MATCH OBSERVERS AT AN EFL LEAGUE 1 OR 2 FIXTURE
North Riding FA is proud to be working alongside the PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) to offer an opportunity for a small group of referees to attend an EFL League 1 or 2 fixture alongside PGMOL Match Observers.
This initiative offers North Riding FA affiliated referees a fantastic opportunity to meet elite match officials and discover how they operate on a matchday within the Football League pyramid.
Interest is invited from all affiliated referees, but a key driving force behind the initiative is the desire to increase the representation of minority groups among referees at professional level, so all BAME officials are encouraged to express their interest with North Riding FA and gain this valuable insight into the professional game.
Ross Joyce, North Riding FA Referee Development Manager, said: “It’s great to see the PGMOL providing such a unique opportunity to our referees and I’m sure the officials selected will take huge benefit from the insight and exposure it provides.
“We recently reinforced our commitment to inclusion and diversity by announcing local referee Mohammed Ghafoor as our BAME Refereeing Ambassador in an effort to attract new BAME referees and provide a pathway for them to reach the elite level.
“I echo the PGMOL’s sentiment that it would be great to see more BAME match officials involved at all levels of the game and I hope to see plenty involved on this fantastic initiative.”
Mike Jones, National Group Director, added: “This is a fantastic opportunity to see an elite referee operate on match day and I would encourage you to put yourself forward for this chance.”
