North Riding FA Statement - Ken Boyer
North Riding FA was sad to hear at the weekend of the passing of our former Chairman, Ken Boyer, on Friday, aged 89.
Ken will have been well known to many involved in football across the county and gave great service to the Association over many years.
Len Scott, the current North Riding FA Chairman, on learning of his death said: “Ken served the North Riding County Football Association for over 50 years with great distinction. He held many posts during that time culminating in him being elected as County FA Chairman and Football Association Representative in 1995, posts he held for ten years before his retirement. In that time he made many friends and was held in great esteem throughout the world of football and will be greatly missed.”
Steven Wade, Chief Executive of North Riding FA, added: “Ken was a lovely man. I personally will always be very grateful to Ken for giving me the opportunity to join North Riding FA back in 2005. Up until a couple of years ago he would still occasionally visit our offices in Stokesley and he always took the time for a quick chat and to ask how things were going. He was a fantastic servant to football in the county and we should be very thankful for the time he gave to grassroots football during his life.”
The thoughts of the Board, Members and staff of the Association are with Ken’s partner, Joyce, and his family and friends at this sad time.
RIP Ken.
