Safeguarding Support Events

The events, which run throughout North Yorkshire and Teesside from November to February, will provide support to league and club officials and help to safeguard young players and the wider football family.

CWO Support Events

These sessions include Whole Game System DBS Integration and reporting safeguarding concerns/dealing with safeguarding referrals.

The aim of the local support sessions is to deliver some important information about a NEW Whole Game System DBS Integration which will be mandatory for clubs by 31 December 2019, as well as providing useful information about reporting any safeguarding concerns and making referrals. This is also an opportunity for your club representatives to meet the County FA safeguarding team face-to-face and ask any questions. These sessions are primarily for youth team clubs.

Due to the important nature of the subject and in light of a new DBS process information, we encourage all clubs to make every effort to attend their local support session in order to ensure youth football in North Riding remains as safe as possible. We have attempted to hold one in each of the four corners of the county – and the requirement is to attend only one of these sessions. Please email Safeguarding@NorthRidingFA.com to let us know which one your club representatives will be attending.

Safeguarding Adults

We have also arranged specific awareness sessions that may help your club representatives in their roles. These are open to all clubs and all representatives. Please note that some adult safeguarding requirements, including having an Adult Safeguarding Officer as well as Safeguarding Children courses for adult teams, is due to become mandatory in the coming seasons. Why not get a head start to make your club safer today?

Guest speakers for the Adult Safeguarding event include Colin Dolan, Mental Health Awareness Campaigner and Karen Grainger, Safeguarding Adults Officer at Middlesbrough Council.

Autism Training

Delivered by North Riding FA’s Charity Partner, Daisy Chain, this workshop will offer information and guidance as to how our clubs can best support players on the autism spectrum. Daisy Chain is a unique charity which addresses the needs of children on the autism spectrum and their families. They have tailored their workshop to our sport in order to make this event as supportive as possible and there will be time for a Q&A at the end of the session.

Response Required

We need to monitor attendance on these events so please express your interest in attending ASAP. Please send a response for which session/s you’ll be attending, and confirm the club representative/s, to the email below:
