Local Referees Gain Tournament Experience in Portugal

Following a successful season, Antony Turner, Dean Whitwell, Liam Smith and Tom Ross flew out to Lisbon in Portugal earlier this year to take part in a nine-day refereeing experience at the 2018 Iber Cup.

The four referees, who are all part of the North Riding FA Centre of Referee Excellent (CORE) programme, were given an opportunity to learn, develop and enhance their refereeing skills in the company of North Riding FA’s Referee Development Manager, Ross Joyce, and CORE Referee Coach, Steve Rowntree.

In what was the fourth year North Riding FA had been represented at the tournament, all four officials were able to improve their theoretical knowledge and practical abilities, whilst taking in the unique tournament experience.

A full tournament review, which includes contributions from all four referees, can be downloaded below.
