U18s Shine in Sheffield

North Riding County Under 18s have set the bar high after a comprehensive opening day victory away to Sheffield and Hallamshire.

Chris Fairless' Under 18s had a great start to the new campaign with a 5-1 romp away to Sheffield and Hallamshire.

North Riding took the lead early on, after some good combination play between Curtis Dryden and Harry Clapham resulted in Dryden slotting past the goalkeeper. It was the same duo again who combined to make it 2-0. Dryden cut inside from the left and delivered a cross into the box for Clapham to head into the far corner. 2-0 became 3-0 before half time when the excellent Clapham got on the end of a perfect Harry Lawrence through ball and finished past the onrushing keeper.

The 4th came early in the 2nd half courtesy of a stunning Josh Beech header, from an equally as good delivery out wide from Charlie Graham. Dryden then tapped in the 5th from close range, following good work again from Clapham.

Sheffield and Hallamshire got a goal back late in the game, with a good through ball finished neatly over substitute goalkeeper Max Rose.

North Riding manager Chris Fairless (pictured above) was beaming with the U18's display: "We're delighted with the result to start our season off. We were particularly dominant in the 1st half, and managed the game well in the second half. There were some fine individual performances, but the most pleasing aspect overall was that the team as a whole played very well, and we were able to give all 16 players game time.

"We now look forward to our game at home against Durham on Tuesday 17th October".
