Two Opportunities For Referee Team

Due to the recent successes of our Referee Development Team we will be implementing a brand new refereeing structure from next season to ensure the very best support can be offered to our workforce.

As part of the new structure two new roles have become available. 
  •  Referee Development Group Director 
  •  Referee Mentor Director

Referee Development Group Director (RDGD)

£1,000 Honorarium per season & benefits

The North Riding Referee Development Team is seeking to recruit a Referee Development Group Director (RDGD) to lead and manage all aspects of the RDG for season 2017/18.

The role will include the following key duties: 

  • Devise and develop all training & development content, identifying educational content in liaison with the RDM and Referee Education Director (RED) for RDG training camps
  • Ensure all referees in the RDG are aware of expectations set and that they sign an agreement
  • Help identify and manage a group of Referee Development Coaches (RDC’s) to support the programme 
  • Be responsible for the appointment of match officials to all academy fixtures at both Middlesbrough & York City Football Clubs throughout the season U7 – U16.


Referee Mentor Director (RMD)

£600 Honorarium per season & benefits

The North Riding Referee Development Team is seeking to recruit a Referee Mentor Director (RMD) to lead and manage all aspects of Referee Mentoring for season 2017/18.

The role will include the following key duties: 

  • Ensure all new referees are appointed a Referee Mentor following attendance at an FA Referee Course
  • Attendance at FA Referee courses within the County FA to notify candidates of our mentoring programme
  • Close working relationship with key contacts at our four Referee Association branches
  • Keep a full record of all mentoring reports and produce quarterly reports on areas of development that arise
  • Working closely with the Referee Development Group Director (RDGD) and provide opportunities for new referees (Trainees) who show promise to receive appointments at our professional club academies
  • Interact with the RDGD and identify new referees for future inclusion within the Referee Development Group
  • Responsibility for the administration of the mentoring budget in partnership with the RDM
