Active Through Football is an opportunity to do things differently. By identifying and working with key target audiences, who face some of the greatest inequalities to being physically active, we want to increase activity levels and create sustained behaviour change using a 'Place-based approach.'
Funded by the Football Foundation and Sport England and led by the North Riding County FA, the project is based around the Heart of the Community Model. This innovative approach is about bringing voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations in Stockton and Thornaby together to ensure that local people can access the activity that they need to thrive; where they can feel safe in their communities and where they can transform community spaces into real hubs of activity.
We are looking for someone who can, along with our voluntary sector partners, design and develop creative approaches to engage some of our most disadvantaged communities. As such we are seeking a special kind of person, an individual who can gain the trust of our voluntary sector partners and the communities of interest and who can demonstrate experience and skill as a community empowerer and developer.
Although an interest in sport is important, experience of working in sports development is not a prerequisite. Instead, it is vital that the individual understands community development principles, is an innovator, an excellent communicator and influencer and has a track record of making things happen with and for disadvantaged communities.
If you think you have what it takes to change the lives of people in Stockton then we would love to hear from you.
If you have an enquiry or if you would like to have an informal discussion about the role, then please contact Andy Clay to arrange a call back: email@example.com
