From local park football on a Sunday morning to the FA Cup Final, all football needs referees. With more than 400 registered referees officiating all across the County, we provide the support and experience for you to help progress your skills as far as you want. Whether you aspire to officiate on the Premier League or to referee the local U9's team, we can provide you with the support, training and resources to assist you in achieving your goal.

FA Basic Referee Courses

These are held throughout the year and will involve approximately 20 hours of training followed by a test on practical issues of refereeing plus a written exam on the Laws of association football. On passing the examinations, you become a Level 9 trainee referee. Following the course you will need to referee 6 11v11 games or 6 9v9 games to obtain qualified status - during this period you will have the services of a mentor to guide you through your opening games.

The cost of the Basic Referees Course for all age groups is £100.00 and includes the following:

• Copy of latest Laws of the Game booklet
• Interactive DVD on Laws of the Game
• Pre course study pack
• All course materials
• Qualified FA Referee Tutors
• Safeguarding Children Workshop
• Referee RESPECT Training / Guide
• FA Registration fee for one season
• Services of a mentor following the course
• Assistance with obtaining a position with appropriate local Leagues
• Certificate of qualification following 6 games
• Associate membership of the Referee / FA (RAFA) Association

Candidates who are aged 16 years of age and above will be required to complete an FA CRB disclosure at an additional cost of £10.00. This will take the total cost - £110.00.
