North Riding Junior Disability League

North Riding Junior Disability League

To mark International Day of People with Disabilities, North Riding FA throws the spotlight on some of the local initiatives taking place.

Last season we developed our own junior disability league.

The league gives competitive football opportunities to players with a range of disabilities, operating at under 12 and under 16s.

North Riding has gone from having three junior teams to now eight teams, with an additional recreation centre as well. Due to the implementing a league and the publicity around this, we the game is growing across the county.

A league coach said: “What a fantastic day we had, even though there were only two teams playing. The atmosphere, the gamesmanship, the hospitality and the way everyone from players, coaches, parents and guardians enjoyed themselves was second to none. Once again, thank you for giving my kids the opportunity to get game time and build friendships outside of their comfort zones.”
