Train to Become a Powerchair Football Match Official

Referees now have the chance to expand their knowledge and experience by becoming a Powerchair Football Match Official with the Wheelchair Football Association.

The Wheelchair Football Association, a huge advocate of powerchair football throughout the country, is running a two-day course alongside the North East Powerchair Football League.

The course will give learners a unique experience, whilst developing their knowledge and experience of refereeing. Officials of any age or experience are most welcome to attend the course.

It will begin on Saturday 19 October at 9:30am at Hedleys Sports Academy, West Lane, Killingworth, NE12 7BH. The first session is based around the theory of powerchair football and is set to run until 5pm.

That will be followed up by a round of fixtures the next day where all learners will be given the opportunity to earn practical experience in the sport. The matches are set to be played at Thornaby Pavillion, Wrightson House, Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees, TS17 9EW, between 9am-4pm.

Usually priced at £100, the course is available for only £50 to FA qualified referees with the discount code FAREF.

As part of the course, candidates will receive a referee top, shorts, whistle, cards and flags, whilst a DBS check will also be provided.
