County FA supporting Alzheimer’s Society through Footgolf Day and marathon run

North Riding FA is hosting its annual Charity Footgolf Day at Stokesley Golf Range on Friday 10 May, whilst Steven Wade, the County FA’s Chief Executive, is to run the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon next month – all in aid of official charity partners, Alzheimer’s Society.

With over 11,000 people living with dementia in North Yorkshire alone, Alzheimer’s Society - the UK's leading dementia support and research charity - was selected as North Riding FA’s official charity partner for the 2018/19 football season. This followed a successful partnership with Saint Catherine’s Hospice in Scarborough during 2017/18, which saw the County FA raise over £2,000 through a variety of activities.

Over £650 has been raised for Alzheimer’s Society by North Riding FA already this season – but there is still work to be done to reach the season target of £2,000.

Steven Wade, North Riding FA Chief Executive, said: “We’ve thoroughly enjoyed having Alzheimer’s Society as our official charity partner this season. It’s a charity which benefits so many people in our local community, so we’re delighted to be raising awareness of their work and raising vital funds in the process.

“Earlier in the season we ran a Christmas Charity Raffle for the charity, but now we’re stepping up our fundraising efforts through an official Charity Footgolf Day and my own attempt at the Manchester Marathon on 7 April.
