Riverside Stadium to host Senior Cup Final

North Riding FA’s Senior Cup Final to be held at Riverside Stadium on Thursday 2 May 2019

North Riding FA is delighted to announce that its 2018/19 Senior Cup Final between Marske United and Scarborough Athletic FC will be held at Middlesbrough FC’s Riverside Stadium on Thursday 2 May (7:30pm KO).

Scarborough Athletic, who were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Middlesbrough’s Under-23s in the final last year, return to Riverside Stadium looking to get their hands on the trophy for the first time since 2004, having edged past York City on penalties in the semi-final after a goalless 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, after a first-round win over Redcar Newmarket and a 3-1 victory over Thornaby in the quarter-finals, Marske United booked their place at this year’s final thanks to an impressive victory over reigning champions Middlesbrough Under-23s earlier this month.

Steven Wade, North Riding FA Chief Executive, said: “Excitement is building here at North Riding FA for what promises to be another fantastic showcase of grassroots football in our county. Our Senior Cup finals are hugely popular events each season, and I’m sure this year will be no exception – especially with two fantastic sides in Marske United and Scarborough Athletic taking to the stage.

“I’d like to thank Middlesbrough FC for once again agreeing to host our showpiece event at Riverside Stadium. A contest as important as this deserves a special venue – and the Riverside Stadium certainly provides that. Their support for our Senior Cup continues to be appreciated by the staff and board at North Riding FA.”

Admission is priced at £6 for adults and £3 for children. Tickets can be purchased from the competing clubs in advance of the final or on the night from the Riverside Stadium ticket office.
