North Riding FA Referees Set For Paris World Games

North Riding FA is delighted to be having representation jet out to Paris for the Paris World Games this Saturday.

County FA affiliated referees Vladimir Mollov, Tommy Brown and Macauley Gibson, alongside Referee Coach, Andy Himsworth, will travel to the French capital to officiate the tournament for eight days after completing their preparation programme.

The games will give the trio an excellent opportunity to test their refereeing skills with teams from around the world set to take part in a series of intense 25 minute matches.

Vladimir, 36, brings plenty of refereeing experience with him to the tournament having officiated a playoff final, in the York Premier Division and the York FA Senior Cup.

Elsewhere, Tommy and Macauley, 17 and 19 respectively, have also managed to gain considerable experience despite their tender ages. Tommy is currently a Level 6 official and has been refereeing for three years, whilst Macauley is currently Level 5 having been refereeing for almost six years. He has also previously been selected as referee for the Scarborough Junior Cup Final between Lealholm and Edgehill Reserves.

North Riding FA Referee Development Manager Ross Joyce has highlighted the crucial experience and knowledge that the Paris World Games will provide Vladimir, Tommy and Macauley.

He said: “As a County FA, we’re delighted to be sending another team of Match Officials overseas to participate in an international tournament which will provide Vlad, Macauley & Tommy with some invaluable referee development whilst developing their social skills during the 8 days. Supported by Andy Himsworth one of our senior CORE Coaches they will be provided with many challenges and in turn opportunities to develop during this exciting and rewarding trip.

“Since 2010, North Riding County FA has provided and funded 26 Match Officials to travel overseas to participate in an international tournament, demonstrating the importance of supporting and developing Refereeing within the County FA. I am already planning to provide further opportunities in the coming year for a further group of Referees to travel abroad and benefit from officiating at a global tournament."
