Winter Weather - Player Safety Comes First

With arctic weather all around us North Riding FA would like to remind referees that player safety comes first when inspecting the field of play.

Making the right call

With the adverse weather in mind, North Riding County FA is providing our referees with a 10-point plan to inspecting your pitches this weekend...and beyond!

Originally drawn up by National Referee Manager Roger Vaughan, the 10-point document is a step-by-step guide for referees on how to decide whether or not it is safe to play your game or not.

Whether your pitch is frozen, waterlogged or playable, this guide will assist you in making the correct decision.

To download the guide, please download the document below.

Postponed before you inspect

Sometimes game will be called off without the need for you to get involved - this is often done by councils or leagues at central venues.

Unsure as to whether your games are on this weekend? Keep an eye on your league's website and social media or expect an email from your referee appointment secretary if your game is off.
