Representatives from the York Mitchell Mini-Soccer League, the York Mitchell Sports Football League, the Ryedale Junior League and the York & District Minor Football League were presented with their awards by Mike Birt, FA representative of the North Riding County FA and York City FC first team player Neil Barrett on the pitch at half-time.
The Charter Standard League Programme assesses the ability of leagues to provide a high quality, safe and enjoyable football experience against a standard set of criteria. It also encourage leagues to continuously develop, through on-going support from County FA staff and the review and on-going development of a league development plan, as part of an annual health check process.
By achieving FA Charter Standard League status, the leagues have demonstrated that they are willing to work towards a minimum operating standard and to raising standards and addressing poor behaviour within their leagues and member clubs. The Leagues have also demonstrated, by reviewing what they do well, what they want to do better and by identifying how they can improve, that they are committed to developing better players and to investing in the workforce.
Steven Wade, North Riding FA County Development Manager said, “This was a great opportunity to reward the four leagues concerned and to thank them for their hard work and commitment in achieving the award. We look forward to continuing to work closely with the leagues and supporting them to continue to provide a safe and fun environment for children to play football.”
