The FREE FOOTBALL FESTIVAL was affiliated through the North Riding County Football Association and took place on Saturday 24th July at the Stokesley Headquarters on Broughton Road between 10am and 3pm. It was open to Boys Under 9’s and Under 10’s and also Girls Under 14’s.
Teams from across the county took part in a fantastic day of football. Jamie Pover the Football Development Officer for the North Riding County said “We have been running this day for the past few years but this was the best one yet, the day is all about FUN and is open to Charter Standard clubs as a thank you for achieving that standard.” He continued “We even managed to make sure the weather was kind to us.”
Alan Ankers Manager of Redcar Athletic Boys Under 9’s said “I would like to thank both the North Riding County FA and the FA Tesco Skills team for a well organised and enjoyable festival of football for my boys. My team got lots out of opportunities to play against teams that they would not normally play against and you could see their improvement throughout the day.” He added “The officials on the day need a special mention as they were the best I have come across for some time.”
Mark Dick FA Tesco Skills Coach said “This is the first time we have teamed up with the North Riding County FA at the festival of football and it has been a huge success, we will definitely be running this event next year, but it will be even bigger and if we can top it, better?”
There were over 300 participants taking part throughout the day with all competitors receiving an FA Tesco Skills goody bag and also medals and certificates from the North Riding County FA.
