The Centre is monitored & assessed throughout the season by the National FA, during its most recent visit it has received a very positive & encouraging report.
The FA’s report has marked all aspects of the Centre as Good & Excelling in 3 categories.
Comments from the report:
“An Excellent Centre of Excellence with the real focus on developing the player through appropriate practice.
Good balance of coach experiences, which is managed by Centre Director.
Facilities used at York College are excellent.
It is evident that all staff have one clear aim – creating the best environment which will give the best opportunities for the players to develop their full potential.”
Gail Colling Centre Director is delighted to receive this outstanding review & assisted by all her team will continue to progress the Programme to offer each & every player the chance of fulfilling their potential & experiencing the female game at the highest levels.
This season the Centre has been busy embracing the girls in all aspects of player development, including expressing themselves both on & off the field of play. Xmas time lent an ideal opportunity to encourage Social Skills & team bonding, with an exquisite restaurant setting at Ashfields Restaurant, York College.
All the girls were encouraged to communicate, socialise & work together in this elegant dining area. The occasion also offered the Centre the chance to develop the girls understanding of a healthy, balanced diet, as well as team challenges to become the coolest carol singers!
Most recently, to continue the player’s development, the Centre attended the Tesco Women’s Premier League cup Final between Everton & Leeds. The Centre provides a direct exit route to the female Premier League & the North Yorkshire girls went along to cheer on the ladies from Leeds, where 2 former Centres players are now applying their playing skills. The event once again proved a huge hit for the Programme with coaches, players & parents boarding the bus to unite as one!
This season the FA have offered all girls within the Centre an on line log booking system, where registered players can update information, record & monitor their sport & activities and reconcile their technical / tactical training sessions. The system fully inclusive of the England Women’s National teams, encourages our girls to submit information to further enhance their own player development plans. It assists the girls with IT communications, keeping them informed of all events & news within the Programme, as well as supporting their learning of healthy lifestyles & maximising athleticism. Once again the state of the art facilities at York College have enabled the girls to become directly involved with their individual plans.
The Centre competes in the North East & Yorkshire Regional Section of the Elite Centre of Excellence Programmes.
