The FA TESCO Skills Programme aims to support every Schools Sports Partnership through the provision of coaching support to primary schools. We are currently working across 8 school sports partnerships in the North Riding area.
Coaches will work in line with the National Curriculum in order to improve fundamental and generic skills in sport. Our themes will come from a football perspective but the skills taught can be applied to most invasion games. We aim to take a child centred approach to learning by adopting teaching methods used in the classroom into physical education. By working together during sessions teacher knowledge and coach knowledge can be brought together to create a truly effective learning environment. All coaches have age appropriate qualifications alongside the generic football coaching qualifications offered by the FA. They will also hold emergency aid and child protection training along with a current CRB check.
We are offering to work with every class in schools over a 6 week period or a half-term block. Lesson plans will be provided and copies can be given to teachers for their records if requested. If you are interested in having a Skills Coach work in your school or would like support at a festival or tournament please contact your SSCO or PDM to check the availability of Skills Coaches in your area.
