FA Club-Links Programme

The aim of the School-Club Link programme is to strengthen and develop sustainable partnerships between schools and local Charter Standard clubs to provide a clear pathway to enable young people the chance to continue their football participation.

The FA Club-Links Programme operates as follows:

  • NRCFA will identify and work with a key number of Clubs as part of The FA Club Links programme
  • Schools involved in the programme will be known as FA Focus Schools
  • The aim is to build sustainable and meaningful relationships between schools, clubs and County Football Associations.
  • This also supports the key objectives of the NGS develop more teams (growth and retention) and increase the number of volunteers (workforce).

The NRCFA has identified girl's and disabilityfootball as our priority areas for the programme during the 2008/09 season. If you are interested in establishing new girls or disablity team the Club-links programme is an excellent tool for recruiting new players and providing initial support to help you set up.

Do you know your Club-Link School?

Even if you're not involved in the School-Club Link Programme, schools are very open to supporting their local clubs and forging sustainable links. There are a number of ways of creating these links and recruiting for your club:

  • Hand out flyers advertising your club
  • Send an ambasador from your club - (could be one of your female players from an older age group or a team manager).
  • Ask to present a talk in assembley to promote training sessions or new age group etc.
  • Organise a club festival for your locals schools - we'll be happy to assist you in the delivery.
  • Organise a friendly between 2 or more schools to be played at your club venue, and promote on the day
  • Have a volunteer deliver some after-school or lunch-time taster sessions* - schools will always welcome more opporunity for their students to play sport
  • Run a girls 'fun day' or open day and advertise in the local papers and schools

* Volunteers will need to be FA CRB checked and prefereably hold a Level 1 Certificate in Coaching football.
