Encouraging those who work with players in the 5-11 age bracket to follow a more creative and adaptable approach to skill development, rather than traditional routine methods, is one of the challenges faced by FA.
The six hour course provides an insight into the ‘What’ and ‘How’ of developing skill with young players; the latest theories behind facilitating skill learning; the importance of fundamental movements and how to bring these aspects together to adapt and create age appropriate coaching practices.

The course will reference The FA’s 4 Corner and Long Term Player Development models, which outline the importance that coaches have of meeting the needs of individuals by accommodating for unique learning styles and specific stages of development.
The day will reinforce the idea that children simply don’t have the capabilities to copy most adult demonstrations and the fact that a player's journey towards skill acquisition is a hugely complex process, made up of a multitude of contributing aspects and developmental phases.
